400th Anniversary of the Lumiere of St. Louise De Marillac
Date Posted: June 4, 2023The Company of Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul worldwide celebrates the 400th anniversary of the Lumiere of her foundress. St Louise De Marillac. On this day the 4th of June 1623 on the feast of Pentecost, Louise while at prayer had a vision in which she saw herself serving the poor and living the evangelical counsels in community. She wrote this "lumiere" or pentecost experience on parchment and carried it with her as a reminder that despite her difficulties, God was guiding her life. in that vision a priest appeared to her, whom she later identified as Vincent De Paul, her future confidante and collaborator in ministry.
